We are getting to the end of the summer and if your kids are anything like my kids, things are getting CRAZY up in here. They annoy each other simply through glances. They act like reading is going to physically harm them. They can’t find ANYTHING to eat. They think showering is optional. When I want to run an errand, they act like I am taking them to Guantanamo Bay. Their rooms and the basement looks like American Girl Dolls and Barbies have been massacred. They are just straight up annoying. In due time they will by annoying their teachers, but in the meantime here is some last minute advice to help you survive the last days of summer.

About three summers ago the girls would not stop fighting. I “aggressively” walked them to the driveway, opened the minivan, strapped them in their car seats, turned on a DVD and had them watch a movie in the driveway, as I sat in the front seat with a book and maybe a glass of wine. It may have been 11am. Don’t judge. Newsflash…those minivans, despite them not being the coolest cars, can be the best place for timeout for everyone in the family. Just don’t put them in there without you present. Fight the urge!!

I remember that I couldn’t even back out of the driveway without you, your sister and brother not fighting or teasing one another! Paybacks are sweet revenge instituted but grandmothers.

Just one more thing. I was that crazy mother who never wanted school to start. I couldn’t stand all the extra work or running around. I preferred the days when I just wanted to pull my hair out when you couldn’t get along on those summer days. School days were a lot harder.

I have my Grandson this week, doesn’t know what to do with himself. Next week I have him and his brother
There is a reason we have our children when we are younger !
