I want to write, so I have to use social media as a platform. Social media drives me crazy though. I think it drives everyone slightly crazy. Crazy because people fall for the highlights, they compare or just crazy because of the insanity of what people post. Sometimes people filter too much, sometimes people need a filter.

As I scroll through FB, I see 6 year olds who are ready for professional athletics. Honor roll students for the 25th consecutive time. Actual pictures of report cards.  Network marketers telling how much money they made last week. People who are announcing they are taking a break from FB. You’ll be gone before we have the opportunity to tell you to stay.

On FB, you can make anything look good. For example look at the pictures below.

Brynlee just happened to take about 100 pictures. Some make Aub and Court look like they were MADE for basketball.

These two pictures paint the real picture…

My two first graders, who are so little, are trying something for the first time. I don’t need to tell you they are great because one, they are just learning … two, because if they are that great, you’ll one day find out.

We are putting so much pressure on our kids and on ourselves. One day, our kids will look at our Facebook page and see that they were only “liked” when they were giving us an opportunity to boast about how well they did something. I know that you can argue that there are things that should be celebrated publically. Heck, anything can be shared. Your FB is your platform.

We put presssue on ourselves if for one second we fall for anyone having a “perfect” life based on what we see on the Internet. There is no such thing. Success, money, perfect kids, will all eventually disappoint. You will never have enough success, enough money or a perfect kid.

If you think for one second that anyone looks like they have it all, you are right they do. They have all the flaws that you do. They just filter them a whole lot better.

Loved this one! I once put on facebook.. I waved a wand at 5 yr old Lexi and said you are now a good girl. She said.. Mom mom that will never happen! No rose colored glasses here 😀. A lot of people should do a reality check.
