IMG_5035Having a child with a disability is just one part of our family, one part mixed into a whole lot of other parts. It does not define us. Nor do we ever want it to define us. Autism does not define Camryn and having a sibling with a disability does not define the girls.

Brynlee, Aubrey and Courtney are learning from us that they are not Cam’s keepers. They already shows signs of sometimes wanting to be “superkids” to make up for what Camryn can’t do especially if she is having a particularly rough day. To get ahead of this, we frequently talk to each of the girls, let them express themselves honestly and check in with them often. We want to be the kind of family where Camryn’s disability is just one part of our family, a part that helps us work together to be a really strong team.
